We always welcome new clients!
During your first visit, referred to as the Psychiatric Evaluation/Assessment, usually about an hour, Dr. Surdhar will go over some basic health information. A comprehensive diagnostic exam will then be conducted, with attention to physical, genetic, developmental, emotional, cognitive, and social components. Any previous medical or psychiatric treatment records that you collect and bring to the visit will help get a better sense of the care needed.
Each patient has their own unique set of circumstances, so we utilize all of the diagnostic tools at our disposal in order to compile a complete and accurate assessment.
Once the assessment is completed, a preliminary Diagnostic impression is generated. This is subject to revision depending on the available information in subsequent sessions.
A plan of action is then created and follow up visits are planned. Follow up is usually less than 30 minutes.
A medical assessment will be requested to get an accurate idea of the physical health and to help determine if some medications may or may not at disposal for use due to compromised liver or kidney, cardiac status, etc. Testing including Labs and EKG is a routine part of medical assessment and will be requested. Specific blood work that may be pertinent to the issues at hand will be discussed and explained in the visit.
Along the way, we will review, explain, and discuss your results. Please feel free to ask any questions or bring up any concerns you may have. Once we have everything needed, we can start working together to develop any treatment plans needed.
Please feel free to ask any questions along the way. This is your treatment and the process is collaborative and specific to your needs.
